WHAT

You're a writer. You've written imaginative stories, poems, a novel, a collection of essays, pages and pages... Now you want your work to get out into the world, and we are going to teach you, step-by-step, how to become a published author. Join us to learn how to prepare your work for publication, how to publish short work, and then how to move up to longer publications. Learn how to be a literary citizen and become part of the greater literary community while developing your own.

WHO

Dr. Kate Gale is co-founder and Managing Editor of Red Hen Press, and Editor of the Los Angeles Review. She teaches Poetry, Fiction and Creative Non-Fiction in the MFA program at the University of Nebraska, and has lectured on independent publishing at universities all over the world, such as USC, Columbia, and Oxford.

She is the author of the forthcoming The Stoning Circle, and of seven books of poetry including The Goldilocks Zone and Echo Light, as well as six librettos including Rio de Sangre, which had its world premiere October 2010 at the Florentine Opera.

Tobi Harper is Deputy Director of Red Hen Press, Founder and Editor of Quill, and Publisher of The Los Angeles Review. Tobi specialized in queer theory and literature of the environment throughout their academic studies, culminating in the master’s thesis: “‘What is it?’: Examining Narrative Shifts in Twentieth-Century Genderqueer Novels.” As a genderqueer and neurodivergent speaker, event curator, literary warrior, tech wiz, and jello wrestler, Tobi enjoys the diversity of experiences that life has to offer.
